Any and all personnel, equipment and bases once apart of and controlled by the Enclave. Are teleported and scattered throughout Remnant?
How would they impact the story as a whole?
Would they be a threat to Salem and Atlas's military dominous?
How would they react to Grimm and the White Fang?
Would they get Auras and Semblances? If so or not, why and how would it affect them?
How would Remnant react to this organization? And what would be your headcannons about how each character thinks about the other?

2021.09.20 00:26 TheCassiniProjekt Anyone else feel unemployable?

I did various courses in things I was good at, but never good enough, so I didn't get the all valuable "experience" that employers are fetishize (the emptiness of that word - experience). I graduated with a PhD but it looks like despite really fucking trying, all academics have closed ranks and it's pretty obvious, they don't want me in their field either. So I'm kinda "getting old", apparently (though I fail to see the logic of that with potentially 20+ years of working left, which is a long time - 2001 seems like aeons ago). I want to escape Ireland which I really don't fit into and go on a European adventure, work is a necessary evil for that. I just don't want to get ESL jobs, retail etc, because they pay peanuts and there's no job security plus I've worked in ESL for 5 years and my brain is turning to mush with the boredom.
It's kind of fucked beyond recognition tbh. The bullshit of academia can't be overstated, they constantly shift the goalposts. Nepotism is redefined as "moulding", when it's just supervisors with influence picking their favourite students and plonking them in tenure track careers. Originally you could take a few years to get into academia, now there's a 5 year window, courtesy of neoliberal infiltration and HR assholes, after that, too late! you're out. This excludes people with experience outside academia who can enrich academic environments. Again what you're left with is a closeted, stagnant environment which preselects for people who conform most to the characteristics of self-importance, ego and snootiness associated with the quintessential academic. Seriously, I'm no comedian but so many academics I've met have been "stiff" and up their own asses.
I'm aware though that the bs extends to everything. For example I'm horrified and baffled by the ageism bigotry I read about in I.T. Apparently being over 30 is "old"... too old to make a career change. Or teaching where it's just psychological abuse until burnouts and breakdowns. It's like there is 1/3 of the population who make work hell for everyone else but they're too vacant to realise it themselves. The employment landscape since 2008 has been bad, but now it's going into full overdrive absurdity and I'm thinking something has to give, it's like a pressure cooker heated to max. The corporations squeal and whine about not finding employees but have requirements so bloody high, only the top 0.01% get an interview. I could be teaching at a university, I've done it before but because I'm not a "superstar" academic they've shut down that future. I could video edit just as well as anyone else but because my experience isn't in a "professional" environment, it doesn't count. I could take a job like graphic design and learn on the job, but no, you must have a portfolio specifically for graphic design (other art doesn't count) and we will not offer training. There are companies like LinkedIn who hire data entry people but don't pay them, that's the recruitment agency's job. So not only are companies refusing training, they now expect someone else to pay for their hires.
It's like fuck these people, they perpetuate this violence of unemployment because that's what it is. It condemns others to poverty, psychological and economic misery. It's like a game of musical chairs where there's one chair and 10000 players.

2021.09.20 00:26 Infinite-Contact1005 Determinism v.s. Free Will

Howdy, everyone! Over the past few months, I've investigated the rabbit hole of LDS doctrine regarding free will and determinism. What initially sparked my interest in this dichotomy is that many LDS doctrines/teachings i.e. baptisms, endowments, and the sacrament are predicated on the notion of individual agency, yet, in 2nd Nephi 27:10, it states "God's revelation reveals all things from the foundation of [the earth] to the end," implying that while events haven't physically manifested themselves, God's omniscience knows how the events will come to unfold. Below are a collection of my thoughts surrounding this relationship between determinism and free will within the context of the Gospel. I would like to preface that despite months of pondering and subsequent study, I've yet to reach a concrete understanding or answer to my questions and I acknowledge that my moral and imperfect mind will never entirely understand the intentions of the Lord but any insight and commentary would be much appreciated!
Before I travel into the rabbit hole, I'd like to provide the basic definitions of both determinism and free will due to the fact that these terms are heavily abstract and allow room for different interpretations:

Since the formation of the Church, the leadership and members have rejected the notion of a deterministic life because as it's the antithetical perspective of free will–a concept mentioned and supported throughout the scriptures. For reasons I'll divulge later, I've come to accept that causal determinism and free agency are compatible within LDS teachings. However, the notion that LDS commitments better align with casual determinism than with libertarian free will is a source for further investigations. (Readings here, here, and here).
Consider that for every event that occurs, there are preceding events and circumstances–whether internal or external–such that given those conditions it's impossible that the event shouldn't have occurred. This concept of causal determinism is predicated on the notions of (1) that all events exhibit a cause-and-effect relationship and (2) all events necessitate their effects. These conditions are assumed to be universal and given existing circumstances, one and only one timeline or world is possible. Thus, according to the casual determinist, all external and internal stimuli are the product of preceding events and the reactant for future events.
Under these conditions and findings, the affirmation of libertarian free will becomes more appealing, as it supports the possibility that more than one state of the timeline or world can exist. These findings through reconciling scripture with scientific findings helped to bring me peace of mind for about a week. Because if these previous ideas are analyzed independently from other scripture then it appears that doctrine and the libertarian free will view are compatible. However, if you expand your doctrinal net to include scriptural references of God's foreknowledge, then the waters of understanding become a bit mirky.
LDS scriptures support that, given God's omniscient foreknowledge, the pathway of the future has already been laid, and thus, people are not free to do anything other than what they're predestined for. This idea paired with the foreknowledge of God implies that people cannot be free in the libertarian sense. In addition, LDS scriptures parallel the Calvinistic belief of eternal predestination–the idea that all events have been willed by God. The arguments that the foreknowledge of God's is incompatible with libertarian free will is as follows:
  1. It is a truth that I will sin at times.
  2. It is impossible that God should hold a false belief or fail to know the truth.
  3. Thus, God has always believed I will sin at times.
  4. If God has always believed a specific thing, then it's not in our power to do anything which entails that God has not always believed that thing.
  5. Thus, it is not within my jurisdiction to do anything that God has not always believed that I will sin at times.
  6. That I refrain from sinning at times means that God has not always believed that I will sin at times.
  7. Therefore, it is not within my power to sin at times.
Ultimately, this inconsistency between the doctrine supporting God's foreknowledge and the doctrine advocating for a libertarian free will made me reconsider and reevaluate my assumptions surrounding God's omniscience.
When I was growing up, I was taught the "natural man" was an enemy to God. For a long period of time, I thought that succumbing to the "natural man" would only hinder our eternal progress; however, upon evaluating my assumptions about God's foreknowledge, I realized that the "natural man" affects so much more. Consider the situation, if I put off the "natural man" that I was in the past, then my actions I made under the "natural man" aren't a predecessor of my present acts, for I've radically changed. Therefore, the idea of determinism is inconsistent with the doctrine of repentance.
This led me to think that the essential characteristic of the "natural man" is such that those who exhibit worldly qualities are always an effect and are never free as the first cause of acts. Is it possible that the "natural man" is governed by naturalistic factors, whereas individuals who have put off the "natural man" are free because they act for themselves? It appears to me that Lehi was trying to answer this very question. Lehi, in his discussion of how people become free, states "to act for themselves and not [merely] to be acted upon " (2nd Nephi 2:27). This distinction then becomes the basis for a further distinction between those persons who are free and those who are captives to the devil: "And because that they are redeemed from the fall they have become free forever, knowing good from evil; to act for themselves and not to be acted upon . . . . Wherefore, men are free according to the flesh . . . and they are free to choose liberty and eternal life, through the great Mediator of all men, or to choose captivity and death, according to the captivity of the devil . . ."(2nd Nephi 2:26-27).
These scriptures are what helped me reconcile the apparent paradox between both the doctrinal support surrounding God's foreknowledge and libertarian free will. Ultimately, it is the distinguishing characteristic of people who are free is they act for themselves and don't succumb to the predetermined wimps of the "natural man".
Overall, I continue to question this relationship between the deterministic perspective and the libertarian free will perspective. I still have questions regarding how does scripture require foreknowledge and how the scriptures support the open view of God, but those questions maybe for another thread!

No matter how much I try to convince myself that I should be happy for her. It just pisses me off that she makes so much money from selling sexual pictures and making dumb faces. Not only that but the guys she makes money off of get called names for supporting her. It's like of course she is the one should be celebrated for selling her body but the people supporting her are trash.
